What it is

Octinoxate is a chemical UV filter that absorbs UVB radiation. It is one of the most commonly used sunscreen ingredients worldwide and is found in sunscreens, moisturizers, lip balms, and cosmetics with SPF claims.

SEVERE

Octinoxate is an endocrine disruptor with demonstrated estrogenic and thyroid-disrupting activity. It was banned in Hawaii alongside oxybenzone for coral reef damage. FDA's 2019 proposed rule requested additional safety data.
